Sweet Maria’s has officially joined the ROEST reseller network. If you’ve been around the home coffee roasting scene, you already know Sweet Maria’s. Discovering them is practically a rite of passage for anyone who’s ever picked up a hot air popper and thought, “I think I can roast my own coffee.”

Sweet Maria’s was founded in a dimly-lit Columbus, Ohio basement by Thompson Owen in 1997. Alongside his now-retired cofounder Maria Troy, the two sought to make green coffee more accessible to the home roasting community. A cross-country move and nearly three decades later, the company’s goal remains the same, now at a larger scale. Based in West Oakland, Sweet Maria’s continues to provide high quality, specialty grade green coffee, home coffee roasting equipment and educational content for coffee enthusiasts.

Over the last 28 years, Sweet Maria’s has approached coffee with a do-it-yourself spirit and that’s not changing any time soon. Coffee operations manager Dan Wood joins Thompson in routine travels to coffee growing regions, nurturing decades-long relationships with farmers and producers and working with them to source and cup the best green they have to offer.
Why ROEST and Sweet Maria’s make sense
ROEST’s precision sample roasters have made it possible for those with limited experience to begin their coffee roasting journey–even at home. Sweet Maria’s has been educating and empowering home and small-scale roasters for more than 25 years. And now, they’re making it easier for folks in the U.S. to get their hands on one of the most advanced sample roasters out there.
