Procedure

Note that this guide has been written for the Windows operating system.

Step 1: Download and install the installer

Download and install the ‘STM32CubeProgrammer’ software from this page. This program allows you to communicate with the first crack card.

Step 2: remove the first crack card from your roaster

Remove the top plate.

Unplug the ribbon cable from the back of the first crack card, then pull the card off its rubber holders.

Step 3: Connect the card to your computer

On the card, there are ten pins where the ribbon cable plugs into. Use the jumper cable to connect the second pin in the top row to the last pin in the bottom row. Plug the micro-USB cable into the card, and plug the other end into your computer.

With the jumper wire still connected, press the button on the first crack card.

Step 4: Flash the firmware

Open the STM32CubeProgrammer program. On the right hand side, select ‘USB’ from the drop down menu.

Click the refresh symbol.  The USB port that the first crack card is connected to should appear in the drop down menu (e.g. ‘USB 1’).

Click on ‘Connect’.

In the toolbar on the left, click on the second icon from the top.

Then in the left panel, under ‘Download’, click ‘Browse’ and find the firmware file on your computer.

Click on ‘Start Programming’. If the firmware is successfully installed, you will see a message saying ‘File download complete’.

Once the firmware is installed, you can remove the jumper cable and USB cable and reinstall the first crack card.
